On September 17, 2018, the SBLA Miami Chapter teamed up with Miami’s Student Athlete After School Program, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charity that provides children (ages 6-14) with the opportunity to play and train to play baseball at camp during the summer and after school throughout the school year.  Student Athlete After School Program, Inc. provides children with mentorship, snacks, physical fitness, and a safe place to both play and train to play baseball.

Earlier this week, both organizations helped create a once-in-a-lifetime event.  Approximately 13 children and his/her parent or guardian attended a Miami Marlins game with VIP treatment.  With the help of SBLA Board member and Marlins Associate General Counsel, Stephanie Galvin, we were able to provide Miami’s Student Athlete After School Program, Inc. with the following:  a private tour of Marlins Park (including the Press Room), a lower-level ticket to the game, a meet & greet with a Marlins team executive (General Counsel, Ashwin Krishnan), and a souvenir gift bag including Marlins shirt.  We even learned that one of the children was chosen to sing the national anthem!

These children were so amazed and appreciative of this opportunity.  Long story short, these are the types of events SBLA was founded on.  We hope and wish that you all will continue to help work with us as we grow bigger, better and with more desire to help those less fortunate than us.
